Luchon turns pink for October Rose – and we're ready to walk!

Every October, the beautiful Pyrenean town of Bagnères-de-Luchon comes together to support Octobre Rose, the national campaign raising awareness of breast cancer and supporting the fight against the disease.

The event seems to get bigger and more colourful every year, with the town transforming into a sea of pink. This year, the streets are set to be even more spectacular, with the trees throughout the town dressed in wonderful pink knitted and crocheted decorations, lovingly created to mark the occasion.

The highlight is the October Rose walk, bringing together locals and visitors for a joyful and meaningful event. Expect plenty of pink, fancy dress, smiles and a wonderful community spirit.

And here at Villa Gracieuse, we're particularly excited! We've proudly won the fancy dress prize for the last two years running. Can we make it three years on the trot? You'll have to join us to find out!

SEPTEMBER IN LUCHON — A TRADITION THAT ENDURES

""September… in Luchon: ideal climate – relaxation – festivities – entertainment.""

55 years ago, a local newspaper was already singing the praises of September in Luchon. In 1971, La Dépêche du Midi devoted an entire page to the town and its famous Fête des Fleurs.

During the renovation of Villa Gracieuse, we made a wonderful discovery: this old newspaper had been tucked inside the walls, where it had apparently been used as insulation. We couldn't bear to throw it away, so we kept it — and it now hangs framed in the house.

And this little advertisement for September still makes us smile: ""ideal climate, relaxation, festivities, entertainment."" Fifty-five years later, it is hard to find a better description of September in Luchon.

The days are often warm and bright, the mountains are still spectacular, the trails are quieter, and the town continues to come alive with events and long-standing traditions.

And this weekend, Luchon celebrates its Fête des Fleurs — a tradition that, just like our little newspaper, has travelled through generations.

One of the highlights of the year is the CosmoJazz festival. Numerous free concerts are organized in the city and in magnificent mountain locations (hiking boots are essential to access them!).

Feeling hot, hot, hot

Wow, it's hot, but there's always something cool in the mountains: dip your toes in the La Pique river, discover Super-Bagnères by gondola, or go for a short hike to a waterfall in the forest. Head to the spa and relax by the ice wall.

In general, temperatures drop at night and there are often thunderstorms that clear the air.

We are only 1 hour 30 minutes from Toulouse and, thanks to the new train, it is easier than ever to get there.

It is now possible to come without a car: there are more shuttles that take you to some of the most popular hiking sites.

Ideal for families: here, children pay a price corresponding to their age when they dine with an adult.

To promote sustainable transport, we offer a free shuttle service between Luchon train station and Villa Gracieuse to all our clients.

Even though the train station is only a 20-minute walk away, if you have luggage, it is much more convenient to be picked up and driven directly to your accommodation.

This service is available until 11:00 am and after 4:00 pm. Just let us know before you arrive, as we sometimes are busy in the kitchen or hiking in the mountains.
